Knowing vs. following

I had the advantage of having parents who took me to church weekly throughout my childhood.

Nonetheless, I didn’t call on the name of the Lord.

I took classes to help me understand the faith.

Nonetheless, I didn’t call on the name of the Lord.

I sang in the choir.

Nonetheless, I didn’t call on the name of the Lord.

Then I understood that I could have a PERSONAL faith in Christ . . . and began calling on him. That was the difference between KNOWING ABOUT God and knowing him personally and FOLLOWING him.

And that is why some call themselves Christians, while others choose to say they are followers of Christ. Semantics, yes, but there is a difference between intent and followthrough. I’m shooting for followthrough.
