Where are you, God?

I am fortunate to live in a beautiful place, the Sierra Valley, the largest alpine valley in North America. Sitting at 5,000 feet, the ranching valley is surrounded by mountains several thousand feet higher. Creeks run through the valley to the northwest corner–the headwaters of the Feather River.

As beautiful as the place is, there are times when I wonder where God is. Like the first two winters after we built our house when our house was flooded by rains on top of the snow. Or when the Cottonwood Fire threatened our community.

But I serve the Lord who said, “I am always with you and will never forsake you.”

So, through the beauty and through the floods and through the fires of life, he is there . . . and I can turn to him for direction, comfort, and safety.
“Thank you, Lord, that you are always with me.”
