Just do it!

Oh my, I was behind in a writing task.
I was calling it writer’s block, but let’s just be real. I was procrastinating.
I was calling it brain fog after pain killers and anesthesia, but I was allowing other distractions to occupy my time.
I was calling it family time, but the actual family time was a mere fraction of the time I had to complete the task.
I love the frankness of Moses as he’s about to turn the reins over to Joshua to lead the people into the Promised Land (Deut. 30:11-14 MSG).
“This commandment that I’m commanding you today isn’t too much for you, it’s not out of your reach. It’s not on a high mountain–you don’t have to get mountaineers to climb the peak and bring it down to your level and explain it before you can live it. And it’s not across the ocean–you don’t have to send sailors out to get it, bring it back, and then explain it before you can live it. No.”
And here’s a great part for writers:
“The word is right here and now–as near as the tongue in your mouth, as near as the heart in your chest.”
And my favorite part–one of my life slogans I try to live by:
“Just do it!”
Yeah, you thought that was Nike’s thing. Nope–God came up with it first: Just do it.
Just read your devotions every single day.
Just take your walk as you said you would.
Just clean those dirty toilets.
Just . . . and I’ve been speaking to myself here . . . just write the dumb chapter, Janet!
So, I did. And it wasn’t dumb at all. In fact, it turned out pretty well, I think. Because here’s the thing: God equips us. When he directs our steps, he also equips us for the task he has set before us.
So, go on and do that hard thing you have been saying you are going to do.
“Just do it.” <——-God said so.
