A #LookingUp perspective

I never imagined that I would write a book.

God had told me, “I want you to write for me.”

I didn’t know what that meant. I thought I would write articles for magazines and devotions for devotional publications.

And so I did. I went to three writers’ conferences and learned how to write the forms and how to submit written work. In those days you printed out your piece, stuck it in a 9″x12″ envelope with a SASE (self-addressed, stamped envelope) . . . and waited . . . and hoped for the best.

Let’s just say I spent a lot on postage in those days.

But eventually I would get a letter in the mail. “Congratulations . . . .”

It always amazed me. “Who am I, Lord God?”

Eventually I even wrote a book, then another and another.

And STILL it always amazes me. “Who am I, Lord God?”

But I get that feeling also when I see an amazing sunset or a dozen robins in my back yard or hear the gurgles of the creek rushing by. “Who am I, Lord God, that I get to live in such a beautiful place?”

And I get that feeling when I hear little feet treading on my front steps and the door opening. “Nana?”

“Who am I, Lord God?”

There is so much to this life. Even with the aches and struggles, if we look around to really see and hear the life given us, we can pray . . . “Who am I, Lord God?”
