Get down to look up

For a recent writing project I found myself full of nothing original. And what’s the point of writing another book if there’s nothing new-under-the-sun in it?
So I prayed. I got down on my knees and begged God for a unique approach–a book that would not be full of self but full of him.
And he poured out a lovely idea–something different and fresh and special.
I hope I get to write this God Thing book soon. But even if I don’t, I will always remember how he lavished his creativity into me that day on my knees.
The word “devotion” comes from the Latin devovere, meaning “down, away” and “vow.”
When we get down and away and make a vow to the Lord that we will listen and follow him, he pours his wisdom and love into us abundantly.
Go ahead and get down and away with God today–on your knees stuff. It’s the best Looking Up! posture.
