Choosing to dance

A funny story . . .
Craig and I were making a CHOICE to learn to dance. Ballroom dancing, to be specific. The waltz, to be even more specific.
But there was a problem. Craig couldn’t hear the 1-2-3 of the waltz–even with the teacher counting in his ear.
So, we sat and CHOSE to enjoy the others who could hear the 1-2-3.
A few years later we made the CHOICE to learn to dance. Western dancing, to be specific. Line dancing, to be even more specific.
But there was a problem. Craig couldn’t distinguish his left foot from his right . . . or his forward from his back.
So, after a while we CHOSE to sit and enjoy the others who knew their left from their right and their forward from their back.
We don’t feel bad about our dancing experiences, and every once in a while we do a slow dance together at a wedding or reunion . . . with our own 1-2-3 and left/right, forward/back.
This day I’m choosing to dance . . . perhaps not literally but definitely in my heart, mind, and soul.
